Makeup brush sampling process: timeline and what to prepare
For brand founders, importers and product developers sourcing from China (US, UK, Australia, Latin America).
Sampling is where trust is built—or lost. A clear sample process reduces surprises when you move from one approved piece to thousands of units.
1. What to send before sampling
- Target models — SKUs from our catalog, photos of competitor tools, or a simple sketch
- Quantity intent — even a range helps (e.g. first order 3,000–10,000 per style)
- Logo artwork — vector preferred (AI/PDF/SVG); note print, hot stamp or laser
- Material preferences — synthetic vs natural where relevant; handle and ferrule colour direction
- Packaging idea — pouch, box, or ship bulk for your own pack later
You do not need a perfect brief on day one. A short email with SKUs and destination country is enough to start.
2. Typical timeline
After specs and artwork are reasonably clear, sample lead time is often about 7–12 days (not including international courier). Complex moulds, special fibres or full custom packaging can take longer—we will say so up front.
- Day 1–2: confirm bill of materials and logo method
- Production of samples
- Internal check (shape, logo, assembly)
- Dispatch by express (DHL/FedEx/UPS etc.)
3. Sample fees and bulk orders
Sample cost depends on how many styles and how much custom work is involved. Fees are quoted case by case. Many buyers treat sampling as a small project fee; when bulk production starts, commercial terms are confirmed on the proforma invoice.
Our standard bulk MOQ is 3,000 units per single-brush style and 1,000 per brush-set or pouch style. Prices are quoted EXW USD after quantity and specs are fixed.
4. Revisions
One or two revision rounds are common (logo size, ferrule colour, handle tone). Large redesigns may need a new sample cycle. Approve samples in writing (email is fine) before bulk—so both sides share the same reference.
5. From sample to bulk
Keep the approved sample as the reference for production. Ask how colour, logo and assembly will be checked on the line. Factory visits and third-party inspections can be arranged by appointment at our production facilities.
